The challenge

Volunteering is one of the cornerstones of a functioning society. The outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic forced organizations to change the way they used to manage their work and volunteers.

The volunteer coordinators are the people who are in every organization that operates volunteer services. They are responsible for the general management of the volunteers, they are the contacts of the volunteers with the volunteering organization. The coordinators were used to conducting and communicating with their volunteers face-to-face and were required to conduct themselves remotely, but they had difficulty doing this in a good way that would ensure the provision of quality service while protecting the volunteers and the beneficiaries of the various associations.
Therefore, the need arose to convert the existing knowledge in the world of traditional volunteering management and throw it into the virtual volunteering world. In order for the volunteer centers to continue to accompany and cherish volunteers as before the epidemic.

Goals

  • Making content and tools available from everywhere for volunteer coordinators.
  • Help volunteer coordinators to improve their volunteer management system.

Research

Benchmark research and volunteers managers interviews – results.

To better understand users needs, we conducted a survey and interviews with the volunteer coordinators. We wanted to understand the current situation and The difficulties they encountered during remote volunteer management.

Interviews:

During our interviews with volunteers managers, we searched for unique words and sentences that the coordinators say that will help us define and understand more about their pain points.

This is a few quotes from our interviews:

The corona period made it difficult to retain volunteers.
I feel like I'm losing my volunteers slowly and surely, I have no way to help them.
How can I guarantee that they will still be there when the corona is over?

Benchmark research

We conducted research competitors, a few of the competitors we researched:

No items found.

Their downside and what can we do better:

  • A lot of text.
  • Focusing on many subjects.
  • Trying to sell their service.

All of these can cause the user to lose focus and prefer to go to a competitor.
